I grew up during the turbulent times in Detroit, MI. Racial confrontations, the hieght of the civil rights movement, culmonated in the Detroit riots of 1967. Detrioters banded together in '68 as our Tigers took the World series against the Cardinals. We listened to the music of artists on Keener 13, all the while the music of Motown was gaining our attention. Motown artists such as The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, the Marelettes brought a new tone to the music world and was a great sense of pride f
Growing up in Detroit gave me the advantage of appreciating the diversity life has to offer. Figure out what it is you want, then go after it like a shark after raw meat. After you have it, make it your own, leaving your mark for others to hear and use.
The street beats of Detroit and late night Motown scene is where I currently live and perform. I love playing on the streets, adding a bit of music to brighten someone's day and adding, hopefully positive vibes, to the downtown atmosphere.
I find inspiration all around me. I try to make my music representative of myself and my generation. I love the places that most people don't give a second glance.
